Rhomberg Bahntechnik GmbH / Alpine Bau GmbH have signed the largest contract in the history of Austria for rail improvement - a grand volume of over 260 Million Euros.
Rhomberg Bahntechnik GmbH will take on the technical management, whereas Alpine Bau GmbH will manage the commercial side of the project. With such a high volume and forecasting showing 4 years as the estimated project length, only candidates with vast technical, specialized and logistical knowledge were taken into account.
DI Dirk Diedrich (project leader ARGE) ´During the 2 year tendering period we created a top-quality offer that convinced our client. This reassuringly shows that the quality of work as well as expertise are still driving forces in Austria.
´This contract is truly a milestone in the development of both companies (Rhomerg and Alpine), as well as the development for rail engineering in general, and will certainly improve our market positioning in Austria` DI Hubert Rhomberg (Managing Director of ARGE) announced pleased.
The project covers a 41 km section (Kundl/Radfeld-Baumkirchen), which is the first part of the northern feed to the Brenner-Basistunnel track. It is also part of the railway axle from Munich to Verona which will be used for high-speed freight transport. The maximum operating speed for this section will be 250km/h. Characteristic for this stretch is the, in total, 34 km long dual track tunnel.
